The snow is melting, the sun is shining, and the trees are starting to bud. That’s right, it’s the beginning of Spring, and soon it’ll be time to reopen your pool. To better help you reopen your pool, we’ve put together this blog post that includes the top three tips for reopening your pool.
Drain water from the cover
Chances are that over the winter, plenty of debris, snow, and water accumulated on top of your pool cover. You’ll need to drain that all from your pool cover so it doesn’t fall into your pool. Use a sump pump to remove anything on top of your cover, and then have another person help you remove the pool cover.
Reconnect all your equipment
When you winterize your pool, you have to disconnect your pool equipment. This includes your pool pump, filter, heater, automatic vacuum, and more. Take time to reconnect your equipment properly, and then test each item to ensure that all is in working order.
Shock the water
Over the winter, your pool likely collected a lot of bacteria. You’ll need to kill that bacteria to ensure your pool is safe to swim in. Add two pounds of shock for every 10,000 gallons of water to make this possible. Then, run your circulation system for at least two hours and add an algaecide.
As you’re reopening your pool this summer, you may consider adding a custom pool slide to your pool as well. Contact Dolphin Waterslides today to learn more!
